Nurse Spotlight: Megan Pingel

Megan-PingelMegan has worked at Pella Regional for more than 5 years in a variety of areas, but in 2015 she found her perfect fit in Surgery. She originally wanted to be an accountant but 2 days before leaving for college she told her mom she wanted to go to nursing school instead. After taking the CNA course she knew she wanted to be a nurse.

Megan wasn’t sure about joining the Surgery team at first but knew that Pella Regional’s surgical area had a great reputation and wanted to be part of that. She soon realized that it was a great fit and she found she wanted to learn and grow in her knowledge of the area in new and different ways.

“I consider myself to be an introvert, but I’m so passionate about people’s health. I want to be the nurse who alleviates a patient’s fear and make them more comfortable,” said Megan. “I found my niche in Surgery. My co-workers are great and the patients are so appreciative.”

Megan likes the smaller atmosphere at Pella Regional. “People know each other and it’s a family here. I’ve learned that bigger isn’t necessarily better,” said Megan. “I love our mission and I believe it’s how we should treat our patients. It’s how I want to live my life. I have no desire to go anywhere else.”
