What conversation you ask? Well, today is National Healthcare Decision Day. This day exists to inspire, educate, and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.

Great. Wonderful. Who cares? I’m young. I’m healthy. I’m fine. I don’t need to worry about these things. Right?

There may come a time when you are unable to make decisions about your own health care, either because of illness or injury. An advance directive helps you communicate your desires about medical treatment to loved ones and health professionals in the event that you cannot express your wishes yourself.

I saw a really great video on this topic a few days ago and wanted to share it with you:

For whatever reason, it really touched me. Made me think. Made me hope that others that I’m close to have made decisions about what they want and have shared those decisions with those people who they love and trust to make those decisions for them if/when the time comes.

Here are some forms we use at Pella Regional if you’d like help in navigating these conversations.
