Hello. My name is Helen.
I thought I’d tell you all a little bit about myself today. Yes, you know I’m not really one person but many. Yes, you know I work in public relations at Pella Regional Health Center. But, I’m a woman which I’m pretty sure makes me an automatic multi-tasker. You all know the deal-wife, mother, daughter, friend, employee, volunteer, the whole works! And, I know you are too! (Did anyone else hear the I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar song in their head just now?)
I suppose I’m a typical woman in many ways. I’d like to lose some weight-ok, more than just “some” weight. I am convinced my smart phone is not just a little, but a lot, smarter than me. I love my family with a gut-wrenching intensity that is difficult to put into words. I can’t imagine having only one pair of black shoes, nor do I want to. I daydream about my next vacation on an almost daily basis.
So, I am also the one in our family who is in charge of our health care. Sound familiar? I bet it does. I hope this doesn’t sound bitter, because I really wouldn’t have it any other way. I want to be in charge of this. It’s important and I make it a priority. It helps that I work at Pella Regional, and I have an obvious interest!
There are certain things we do in life to prevent bad things from happening. People service their car every 5,000 miles; they go to the dentist every 6 months. A yearly physical or immunizations really aren’t much different. I’m keeping my family and myself safe and protected. It’s my job.
So, how many hats did you wear today? Which gave you the biggest reward? Let me know! And, as always, I’d love to have your feedback to let me know how I’m doing and what is important to you.

I'm Healthy Helen and I work in Public Relations at Pella Regional Health Center. I work with amazing people who do amazing things every day, and it’s my job to tell people about it. The tricky part is that I'm fictitous--not just one person, but many. Not sure about that one? No worries. Keep checking back and I'm sure we'll all catch on soon enough!
